National Marine Week 2018

Head to Norfolk this summertime to celebrate National Marine Week hosted by Norfolk Wildlife Trust. This year, the National Marine Week is being held from 23rd July until 7th August. 

The National Marine Week is a celebration of the spectacular sea animals and plants we have here in the UK and the Norfolk Wildlife Trust will be holding events and activities throughout the 13 days, including at West Runton, NWT Holme Dunes and NWT Cley Marshes. Enjoy a day out at the coast and take part in the events, suitable for all the family. Below are some of the fantastic events taking place:

  • Iron Road RambleTuesday 24th July10:00am-1:00pmNWT Cley MarshesBooking essential; £3.50 for NWT members, £5 for non-membersDiscover a new walking route from Cley to Salthouse and take in the amazing landscape and wildlife on the journey 
  • Rockpool RummagingWednesday 25th July11:00am-12:30pmWest Runton BeachNo need to book, please turn up 15 mins early to sign up; £3 for NWT members, £3.50 for non-members. Pay for car park.Come along and enjoy rummaging around and exploring the rockpools. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions. 
  • Searching for SharksThursday 26th July2:00pm-3:30pmNWT Holme DunesBooking essential; £3 for NWT members, £3.50 for non-members. Non-member car park fee applies.Meet at NWT Holme Dunes and search for sharks' egg cases (aka mermaid purses).  
  • Fascinating FossilsMonday 30th July11:00am-1:00pmWest Runton Beach CafeNo need to book please turn up 15 mins early to sign up; £3 for NWT members, £3.50 for non-members. Pay for car park.Come along and explore the fossils of those animals that used to call Norfolk their home millions of years ago.
