We stayed at Pilgrims Progress for a week after Christmas and over the New Year. The accommodation was adorable and very homely and we would definitely stay again. The private use of the heated pool was exceptional. Each of the 5 cottages are given 1.5h daily timeslots on a rota. Fortunately for us, most of the other cottages were empty, so we Read morecould change our times to suit our other activities. The building that houses the pool is extra special, and I never tired of looking up at the ancient (and not to ancient) roof timbers and the underside of the thatch whilst swimming. I am a Building Surveyor though. The games room is also great, and we spent several hours playing air hockey and pool with the kids. The pool table has a bit of a mind of its own, but its still great fun. The lovely sandy beach is about 5 minute walk along a track and fantastic for walking the dog on blustery winter days. The only downside with the Pilgrims Progress cottage maybe for some, is that the bedroom is a mezzanine over the kitchen and accessed by a set of steep timber steps with no handrail and a very low beam at the top. If you have mobility problems or young children, this may be a concern. Our dog climbed them once, and we had difficulty getting him down (35kg Old English Sheepdog). After that we had to barricade the bottom with a chair so he couldn't get up them. All in all, wonderful place to stay. Hide

We had a lovely trip to Norfolk despite the weather. Accommodation was great for us and Prosecco on arrival very much appreciated. Pool / sauna access with rotated time for each cottage made the trip. Manager really helpful and dealt with faulty toaster very promptly. Cleanliness of kitchen equipment and bathroom could have been better on arrival.

Both of the couches in the property were damaged to the extent that it was impossible to sit on them comfortably, which meant it was impossible to be comfortable during the evenings. The furniture was different and in far poorer condition than that shown in the various photos of the property seen on-line. The double bed was in the mezzanine and iRead mores not a king, it's barely a double. Again, various photos seen on-line showed the singles on the mezzanine and the double in the ground floor bedroom - this is the most inconvenient layout thinkable - two near pensioners having to climb what is effectively a ladder to go to bed, is ridiculous. The property doesn't have central heating, there are three electric panel heaters and a towel rail. As a consequence, and given that we went in Autumn, the property took hours to warm up and was generally cold and a bit damp and musty. Several of the light fittings didn't work, which meant the living room was invariably dark - it was impossible to read anything. The TV hasn't been updated and therefore, several HD channels are missing. The TV clock is vastly inaccurate and cannot be reset as within half an hour its up to twelve hours pit of sync, which means the EPG can't be accessed. The bath isn't suitable for use as a shower - I slipped and fell over twice, badly hurting my ankle in the process, despite using the cheap, discoloured, useless, non-slip mat supplied for the purpose. There is also a durgo in the bathroom, connected to the soil pipework which is either not working correctly or is not suitable for installation in that position - the bathroom stinks of sewage all the time. The bed's are comfortable, which is a big deal, because at least you can get a good night's sleep and if the living room furniture and shower arrangements were sorted it would be a reasonable place to stay. Exceptionally clean and tidy, welcome pack appreciated, Manager Nicky very helpful and amenable, lovely location and access to beach close by. Only downside was the sauna not available for 3 days with no explanation and we missed this greatly.

Happy with cottage & location as known to us and thats why we chose it. Would have preferred more pool time availability as in an am & pm slot as only one other cottage occupied during our stay. Cottage could have been cleaner upon arrival as lots of cobwebs etc.
