Occupying a delightful spot on the banks of Womack Staithe, this beautiful property offers an idyllic escape for two. Set in a row of cottages converted from a former maltings, this elegant cottage has a cool, contemporary vibe, and a private sunny patio with a table and chairs. Hire a boat to explore the Broads, go birdwatching or walking from your front door, or wander into the main village of Ludham for a chilled and well-deserved holiday.

Well presented with a crisp, neutral colour scheme and finishing touches inspired by the natural world, this two-storey cottage is a joy to behold. The open-plan lounge and dining room is light and bright with wooden floors, chic furniture and an open staircase leading upstairs. There’s a compact but well-designed kitchen with all the essentials for preparing delicious meals. Enjoy a romantic meal for two on the indoor table or step through the patio doors to the lovely courtyard, where you can sip a glass of wine or dine alfresco in the fresh country air. Enjoy a soak in the tub before bedtime, then snuggle into your cosy double bed for a good night’s sleep – if you’re travelling with small children, bunk beds can be booked for an additional fee.

Ludham is a picturesque village with quaint thatched houses, a magnificent church, and a number of tearooms and independent shops. Gather together some local treats to enjoy a picnic by the water’s edge, or stride out on the network of local footpaths – of particular interest to history buffs is the route between St Benet’s and How Hill which follows the ancient path of the monks of St Benet’s Abbey. The beaches of Sea Palling, Horsey Gap and Winterton offer a lovely day at the seaside (8.5, 10.5 and 9 miles respectively), while the cathedral city of Norwich is 15.5 miles inland.

  • 1 double bedroom (children’s bunk beds available on request)
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC

Amazing location and wonderfully peaceful (December). Cottage was perfect for the two of us but four people could be a little cosy! Would definitely return but again, out of season. Village pub was super and local shops had everything we needed. Everyone we met was so friendly - a really lovely village.

We had a wonderful stay at Wherry Cottage, and very much hope to return in the future. The Cottage is furnished with many thoughtful touches which made us feel welcome and instantly at home - this was also true for our pup, who particularly appreciated being able to play with the dog toys and settled in immediately! The kitchen is especially wellRead more equipped, with everything you could possibly want for a self-catering holiday (although the detailed information folder lists plenty of nearby takeaways if you feel like a break from cooking.) The private parking was very useful, and we particularly enjoyed sitting out in the patio garden in the evening after the day's adventures. We enjoyed a perfect stay at Wherry Cottage and would heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to explore this beautiful corner of the world. Hide
