Castle Acre is a popular year round destination with visitors flocking to the area to explore the ancient priory and castle ruins. The village takes its name from the walled castle built by the Norman’s in the 12th Century and lies four miles north of Swaffham where the river Nar is crossed by an ancient route known as the Peddars Way. The castle ruins and priory are just a short walk away and the 16th Century tavern, the Ostrich Inn; offers a great Sunday roast or a glass of your favourite beverage. There is a village shop for those last minute essentials, antique shops brimming with unusual antiquities and a delightful tea room. The neighbouring village of Great Massingham is a short drive away with a popular pub and restaurant, ‘The Dabbling Duck’ nestled within the picturesque village green. The majestic ‘Sandringham House’ is located 14 miles from the village. Here you can explore the house and gardens, visit the adventure playground or explore the woodland - plenty to keep the whole family occupied.
A delightful cottage we really enjoyed our stay :) The cottage is really cosy and very well equipped. Many thanks.
A delightful cottage and wonderful regude n the gloomy October rain. Loved sitting by the hearth and playing board games in the evening. Had an excellent weekend and can't wait to come back! Very pleased with the well-supplied kitchen as well.
What a cosy little cottage! Looking forward to coming back.
A lovely cottage and an amazing village. Loved The Ostrich and had brilliant fish and chips. We'll definitely be back to the delightful cottage!

We've had wonderful time staying in this lovely cottage. It's the best equipped cottage that we have stayed in. The village is beautiful and very peaceful, we observed a great many variations of wildlife while staying here. Just great local pubs, the George and Dragon is excellent! Thank you, Stuart, Jackie and Rachel.
