This 1950s cottage was once used as married quarters for the ranks at Muckleburgh Camp. Now completely refurbished, the house is a modern and stylish holiday get away. Located within 2 miles Kelling Heath and just 1 mile from the sea, the cottage is set back on a quiet road and offers lovely spaces within. Equipped to a high standard, the owners have added many creature comforts that will make a good stay great. The rear garden has a summer house, perfect for taking a quiet evening drink with your BBQ on warmer days and the ambience of the house makes for a relaxing stay at any time of the year.

You are welcomed into the ground-floor sitting room which has soft furnishings, comfortable seating, a feature fireplace and a TV with a DVD player. The kitchen and dining area has a soothing wooden theme with a breakfast bar and dining table, offering flexibility when eating. There is a door here to the back garden which is enclosed and boasts a summerhouse, wooden table and chairs and a small BBQ. There is also a front garden area. Back inside, head up to the first floor where bright and airy bedrooms await. A king-size and a twin share a modern bathroom.

Kelling is a small village in a great location set along the coastal road that skirts the top of the county and lies between Sheringham (4 miles) and Salthouse (2 miles). Its reputation as a smuggling haven is no longer but the area has been one of military and historical importance in the past. The village reading rooms have now been turned into a small book shop, art gallery and tearoom and the area is great for walkers, birdwatchers and stargazers, surrounded as it is by both Kelling Heath and Muckleburgh Hill, within the Norfolk Coastal AONB. The Norfolk Wildlife Trusts' visitor centre (3.5 miles) at Cley-next-the-Sea (4 miles) is just a short drive along the coast and the marshes along this stretch of the coast attract year-round attention for their flora, fauna and wildlife. To the east, the charming Victorian seaside town of Cromer (8 miles) with its famous pier is a lively spot to enjoy a day out and the cliff-top walks, golf course and the climb up the church tower will keep everyone active!

Our second visit to this property. A neat house, comfortable, well equipped and very clean. You can walk on footpaths from there up to Kelling Heath, or stroll across the road, down through the woods to the coastal path and thence to Sheringham or Cley and Blakeney, catching the coastal hopper back. A brilliant base for birdwatching. Seven daysRead more just doesn't feel long enough Hide
