Property code: OC-1540

A fabulous beachfront location and gorgeous sea views make this small but perfectly formed three-storey property a unique seaside getaway. Close to all the amenities of popular Sheringham, it’s perfect for couples, friends or a family with children over the age of eight.

This tiny Victorian local authority building has been cleverly converted into a one-of-a-kind destination. You’ll unload your car at the bottom of a steep slope with steps before stepping down through the front door and discovering its delights. The entire ground floor consists of an open-plan living space, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. There’s comfortable seating, a TV, DVD and CD for entertainment, and a kitchen area with all you’ll need for preparing holiday meals. Two people can perch at the breakfast bar to eat, plus there are folding chairs on the balcony. Take the spiral staircase to the lower-ground floor and you’ll find a double bedroom and a separate shower room, while on the first floor - also accessed by a spiral staircase - is a spacious double bedroom with a beautiful beamed, sloping ceiling and an en-suite shower room. The top bedroom has doors to a delightful balcony, the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a sundowner. Wrapping around three sides of the ground floor, a larger balcony is another gorgeous place in which to chill out.

Sheringham’s family-friendly beach is huge and sandy when the tide is out, and when the tide’s in you can wander along the promenade, part of the Norfolk Coast Path, enjoying the colourful beach huts and scenic vistas. In town, you’ll find an array of cafes, tea rooms, restaurants, a museum and even a theatre, and if you fancy heading further afield you can jump on a heritage steam train to the Georgian town of Holt.

Great location, very relaxing, will be returning later in the year. No Wi-Fi installed in the property, and mobile signal very poor on all networks.

A lovely place to stay where you can sit and watch the sea all day if you wish. The Wee Retreat was clean and tidy with under floor heating if it turned chilly. I would thoroughly recommend it

The website mentioned a welcome pack, however the only thing provided was a pint of milk. I feel for the price of the property, at the least there would have been salt pepper and olive oil for the kitchen and handsoap for the bathrooms.

When we arrived at the property both bathroom sinks were grimy (my husband had to buy some wipes to clean them & the toilet seats), the floor in the main living area had clearly not been swept that day as it was pretty dirty, the TV in the downstairs bedroom would not work as 2 AAA batteries were missing from one of the remotes, there was a small aRead moremount of soap provided in the upstairs bathroom but none downstairs which was a bit disappointing for my mum. The location of this property is excellent but I do think more importance should be given to the cleaning of it, especially on arrival day. Hide

Lack of attention to detail. Four poor quality bath towels ,only two poor quality hand towels & only one bath floor mat. No welcome pack .unless you count the opened half used pint of milk in fridge ( presume cleaner didnt open & clean) & half used toilet roll & odd t bags & condiment bits etc just slung in cupboard ( presume left by previous guesRead morets). Fridge freezer door held shut with bit of rolled up paper due to broken handle. Cob webs around property . One drinking glass , others stem glasses , really think crockery etc should be checked as part of cleaning & replace if missing items, adding odd different pattern & colour items gives an impression of that will do not what I expect for the price paid. Underfloor heating we presume turned off , lovely & warm on arrival ( wet & cold) rest of week not needed as mild but Fri 12th rain & cold turned up thermostats no heating kicked in , not a prob as we always bring an electric fan heater in case of this . Property information folder found towards end of week in cupboard. Its such a shame that this gorgeous property is let down by some basic attention to detail. The check out & check in times give plenty of time for the property to be prepared , such a shame that it is let down by attention to detail . I hope this feedback honestly given will enable little things to be tweaked to bring it up to a 5 star review Hide

Great location, most expensive place we have paid definitely the most disappointing welcome pack ever which consisted on 1pint of milk and two toilet rolls. It would probably be best not to advertise a welcome pack in your brochure. Scored 3 for equipment as we didn't cook so don't know if it would have been adequate

There was no washing up liquid in the kitchen and a wooden spoon would have been helpful along with a few plastic tupperware containers as I wouldn't expect to have to bring those items with me. Other than that the accommodation was brilliant and we had a fantastic week.

Wonderful location, could not be bettered. Well appointed house with good quality furniture and equipment. Slightly small and no WiFi and intermittent phone and 4g reception a small inconvenience.

We have been a few times and just love it there. The only problem we have now getting older in our 70s is tackling the stairs. We hope we can come for many years yet.
