The village of Dersingham nestles in the embrace of the Royal Estate of Sandringham and is surrounded by beautiful green countryside and woodlands. The house is best known for being the place the Royal Family always returns to for Christmas.
The estate’s museum has a large & unusual collection of royal vehicles plus some of the gifts given to the Royal Family over the years. The gift shop sells all manner of royal memorabilia and the estate’s farm shop is very appealing with local cheese, rare-breed organic meat and a large selection of jams and chutneys. The Sandringham Country Park extends north from the visitor centre and covers nearly 600 acres, including two waymarked nature trails, a sculpture trail, as well as numerous woodland paths which are all open access, and free to visit.
In Dersingham you will find several fine examples of the local carrstone and Norfolk flint architecture within this thriving village which is rich in history. Perfect for heritage buffs! The area offers good walking and cycling opportunities and if ornithology is a passion then Dersingham boasts its own English Nature Reserve, with Holme - Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Titchwell and Snettisham - RSPB reserves just a short distance away.
There is an excellent choice of local beaches, the nearest which is just two miles away being Snettisham - a mix of stone and sand beach with a grassy area behind. With the coastal resorts of North and West Royal Norfolk readily accessible, you have so much on offer in this wonderful area.
